Renewable Heating

At Mitchell and Rollins we are fully MCS certified. We have installed multiple AirSource and Ground Source Heat pumps in properties ranging from newly renovated/extended properties to 100+ year old farmhouses. We always work with the client to ensure they understand the full scope of the works and will ensure the system is as efficient as possible for the best long term benefits.

Renewable heating systems such as Air Source and Ground Source Heat Pumps offer an alternative way to heat homes in a more environmentally fashion. They are cheaper to run and are backed by government funding initiatives to help offset the upfront installation costs of putting them in. The systems work on a different principal of heat. Older style systems such as oil and gas run at a higher “flow temperature” meaning your radiators often are too hot to touch and heat up rooms rapidly. The Heat pump systems operate at at lower “flow temperature” therefore work around the principal of a lower more constant heat and often maintaining a rooms temperature. With newer systems radiator sizings and insulation can be key to a heat pumps efficiency. When we do our initial assessments we will talk through ways that a) a heat pump can be installed and b) ways that the running costs can be improved through home efficiency improvements, then going forward it’s a matter of deciding how to proceed.
